Robert Steelman

Co-Head Portfolio Management

Prior to joining AGL, from 2006 to 2018, Steelman was a Managing Director, Senior Investment Analyst, and Portfolio Manager at CIFC Asset Management. He was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, approving and declining investments for the firm’s managed portfolios.

Over his 12 years at CIFC, Steelman invested in leveraged loans and high yield bonds within CLOs, levered and unlevered loan funds, and long/short credit hedge funds.  During his time at CIFC, he was a Sector Head for the Healthcare, Technology, Chemicals, Paper, Packaging, Metals, Mining, and Transportation sectors. He was a member of various ad hoc committees for both in court and out of court restructurings.

From 2003 to 2006, Steelman was a Global Portfolio Manager for the Healthcare and Chemicals Industry at ABN AMRO Securities. From 2002 to 2003, Steelman was a Sell Side Equity Research Analyst covering the Chemicals and Materials sectors at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC.

From 1997 to 2001, Steelman held numerous roles at J.P. Morgan Chase Securities including as Vice President in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice.

Steelman has a BA in Economics from Swarthmore College and a MBA from Columbia Business School. He is a Trustee of Swarthmore College and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
